Evolving your Pokemon is one of the most satisfying elements of exploring the Paldea region in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. While many classic creatures evolve using traditional evolutionary stones or straightforward level thresholds, certain species require specific battle criteria to trigger their transformation. Girafarig, the long-standing Normal and Psychic dual-type Pokemon, gained a long-awaited Paldean evolution known as Farigiraf.

Locating Girafarig in Paldea

Before you can begin the evolutionary process, you must first add a Girafarig to your active team or box storage. Trainers can easily spot wild Girafarig roaming the grassy fields of West Province Area Two and Area Three, particularly near the coastal settlement of Porto Marinada. They also frequently spawn within Area Zero during late-game exploration, as well as appearing in select Tera Raid battles.

Learning the Essential Move Twin Beam

The core requirement to trigger the evolution into Farigiraf centers entirely around a signature signature move called Twin Beam. Girafarig naturally attempts to learn Twin Beam upon reaching level 32 during its normal leveling progression. If your Girafarig has already surpassed level 32 without learning the move, you can simply access its summary menu to relearn Twin Beam at any time without needing special items.

Triggering the Evolution Process

Once your Girafarig officially knows Twin Beam, triggering the transformation requires only one additional level up. You can gain this necessary level by taking part in standard trainer battles, defeating wild Pokemon, or using rare candies and EXP candies. However, note that leveling up through the auto-battle feature will not trigger the evolution sequence, so be sure to manually level it up in battle or via the menu.

Competitive Advantages of Farigiraf

Evolving Girafarig into Farigiraf significantly increases its combat performance and overall durability on your team. Farigiraf boasts impressive base health and special attack power along with access to two unique abilities: Armor Tail and Cud Chew. Armor Tail is especially valuable in competitive play because it completely blocks opponents from using priority moves against Farigiraf or its allies.
